Brain Injury

An estimated 5.3 million Americans currently live with disabilities that resulted from a Traumatic Brain Injury, and one million people are treated for brain injuries and released from emergency rooms annually. Vehicle accidents, violence from firearms, and falls (particularly among the elderly), are the leading causes of damage to the brain. The demographic that are at the highest risk of traumatic brain injury include adolescents, young adults, and those over the age of 75. The risk in men is twice the risk in women. The most alarming fact

that individuals must face, is that after experiencing one brain injury, their risk for a second injury is three times greater, and after the second injury, the risk for a third injury is eight times greater. A person might experience memory loss, lack of concentration, slowed ability to process information, seizures, double vision, or even loss of vision, headaches, migraines, impulsive behavior, depression and mood swings. Do you have a loved one affected by brain injury? We have the next steps to planning for their future care and quality of life.
